The Nikon 120-300mm f/2.8E AF-S FL ED SR VR is a lens with no weaknesses that boasts outstandingly consistent sharpness across its focal and aperture ranges. A near perfect performer, the only question is whether sports photographers will want to add this to their trusty 70-200mm and 300mm combo. If they do, they will be wowed a midrange marvel
I know that the quality of those lenses is very good regardless of the brand. Tamron and Nikon have VR versions now, and Sigma is about to release its f/2.8 VR version (which I'm holding out for). I can't justify the cost of Nikon's 14-24 or Tamron's 15-30 in addition to a w/a event lens (24-70ish). But I still need a serious landscape lens
The Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens marks the first “serious” telephoto lens in Nikon’s still relatively new full-frame mirrorless system. Although there is also a 24-200mm “superzoom” lens, this one is more squarely aimed at professionals and high-end enthusiasts thanks to its superior design and maximum wide aperture (f/2.8). Well
The 24-70 is 2.9x zoom ratio. The 14-24, only 1.7x. If you compare the Nikon to other lenses of the same focal length, you'll see it is much better than you give it credit for. semaphore's gear list: Nikon D850 Nikon AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED Nikon 85mm F1.8G Nikon 35mm F1.8G ED Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F4G ED VR.
The new NIKKOR 16-80 f/2.8-4 is sculpted from polycarbonate. Its older sibling, the NIKKOR 17-55 f/2.8, is a metal monster of a lens. The new lens’s satin texture makes the plastic body feel solid and keeps it from screaming, “Plastic!”. Rub your hands over it, however, and it definitely does not feel like painted metal.

Nikon has finally implemented the much more secure hood lock that we've seen in the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. Weather Sealing Just like the lens it replaces, the new 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II features weather sealing throughout the lens body, including a rubber seal at the lens mount.
